PRABHAKARA JIMMY QUEK
Jimmy Quek, also known as Prabhakara, has been a full-time artist
since 1986. He started learning art in 1971 and has held 11 solo
exhibitions and participated in over 80 group exhibitions worldwide.
His paintings are signed “Prabhakara”, which means “source of light” in
Sanskrit.
Jimmy has received many awards for his art, including the First Prize
IBM Art Award Singapore in 1988. He has also served as a judge for
several art competitions and as an external assessor for the School of
Fine Art at LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts.
His paintings can be found in major corporations, institutions,
ministries, convention centers, airline lounges, banks, hospitals, offices,
and homes of art lovers and collectors worldwide. His works are also
part of the permanent collection at the Singapore Art Museum.
Besides creating art, Jimmy teaches sketching and painting courses at
various institutions and offers ongoing drawing and painting lessons at
his home studio in Tampines.
