African Horizon
I find solace and comfort in the simplicity of vast and empty spaces and
skies. This acrylic painting on paper, measuring eight by five inches,
transports me back to the breathtaking landscapes of Africa that
inspired its creation.
The bright, expansive skies dominate the canvas, radiating a sense of
boundless freedom. I painted subtle clouds on the distant horizon
using shades of greyish blue to capture the ethereal beauty of far-off
vistas—mountains and trees that merge seamlessly with the vast land.
Speaking of the land, it stretches out before me in earthy yellow and
earthy green tones, mirroring the vibrant colours I experienced in the
vast African landscapes. Through careful brushstrokes, I aimed to
convey the grandeur of the continent, emphasizing its unspoiled nature
and raw, untouched beauty.
As my eyes traverse the painting, I can almost feel the warm breeze
caressing my face, carrying with it the essence of the African
wilderness. The delicate brushstrokes that depict distant bushes add a
sense of depth and scale, giving life to the otherwise empty expanse.
This painting, in its visual simplicity, serves as a reminder of the
profound connection I felt with the land, the sky, and the natural world
there. Through this artwork, I hope to share the serenity and solace I
find in these expansive vistas with others, allowing them to experience
the same sense of tranquillity and connection to nature that I have
been fortunate enough to encounter.
