Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
Art-Making SOP for Pabha Studio
Objective:
To establish standardized procedures for art-making in Pabha Studio,
ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient creative environment.
Materials and Tools:
1. Canvas/paper
2. Paints (acrylic, oil, watercolour, etc.)
3. Brushes, palette knives, and other tools
4. Palette
5. Easel
6. Apron/protective clothing
7. Thinner, medium, or water (as applicable)
8. Palette paper/mixing surface
9. Rags or paper towels
10. Varnish (if applicable)
Procedure:
1. Setting Up:
a. Lay out protective covering on the studio floor to prevent spills.
b. Ensure proper ventilation by opening windows or using a
ventilation system.
c. Set up the easel and prepare the canvas or paper.
2. Safety Measures:
a. Wear appropriate protective clothing, including an apron and
gloves.
b. Be mindful of the location of emergency exits and fire
extinguishers.
c. Dispose of hazardous materials (e.g., used rags with solvents)
properly in designated containers.
3. Preparation of Materials:
a. Inspect paints, brushes, and tools for any damage or
contamination before use.
b. Pour an appropriate amount of paint onto the palette.
c. Arrange brushes and tools for easy access during the art-making
process.
4. Art-Making Process:
a. Begin with a rough sketch or plan if necessary.
b. Apply paint in layers, allowing sufficient drying time between layers
(if applicable).
c. Experiment with different techniques and tools as desired.
5. Cleaning Up:
a. Clean brushes and tools immediately after use using the
appropriate cleaning agents.
b. Dispose of waste materials, such as used rags, in designated
containers.
c. Wipe down surfaces to maintain a clean and organized studio
space.
6. Storage of Artwork:
a. Allow completed artwork to dry completely before storing or
moving.
b. Store finished artwork in a designated area to prevent damage.
7. Equipment Maintenance:
a. Regularly inspect and clean studio equipment such as easels and
palettes.
b. Replace any damaged or worn-out tools promptly.
